Google: Ciao Ciao al Mercato Cinese
News — By Max on marzo 23, 2010 at 21:33Google ha ufficialmente abbandonato il mercato cinese. La versione cinese del motore di ricerca rimanda a quella di Honk Kong, ed è senza censure. Secondo l’azienda questo è sufficiente ad operare secondo le leggi cinesi.
Google in Cina, addio mia concubina.
Il comunicato dell’azienda non è comunque molto speranzoso. La dirigenza Google si dice consapevole del fatto che Pechino potrebbe semplicemente bloccare l’accesso a google.com.hk (Honk Kong), come già fa con tante altre pagine web, inclusi diversi servizi Google.
Per facilitare il monitoraggio della situazione Google ha creato un’apposita pagina web, dove potete consultare un elenco dei servizi Google raggiungibili dentro i confini cinesi.
La scelta di Google, sicuramente sofferta, è una conseguenza diretta degli annunci dello scorso gennaio, quando Google mise il mondo a conoscenza di un fatto incredibile: l’azienda di Mountain View e altre venti (almeno) avevano subito attacchi informatici molto sofisticati, mirati agli account di alcuni attivisti democratici, ma anche alla sottrazione di proprietà intellettuali. Sul secondo punto, tuttavia, non è mai stata fatta luce.
Fu subito evidente che l’origine degli attacchi era in territorio cinese, e immediatamente Google puntò il dito contro il governo di Pechino. Ancora oggi, però, dopo molte indagini, anche con la collaborazione dell’NSA, i veri responsabili sono sconosciuti.
Google decise comunque di mettere fine allo status quo. Fu l’unica azienda a denunciare le intrusioni (altre poi dovettero fare lo stesso), e affermò di voler cambiare radicalmente il proprio modo di lavorare, e di essere, in Cina. L’azienda voleva smettere di censurare i risultati, uno dei modi, forse il principale, che Pechino usa per controllare le informazioni alle quali i cittadini hanno accesso.
Purtroppo, ma senza sorprese, non è stato possibile trovare un accordo con Pechino affinché Google potesse rimuovere la censura senza infrangere la legge. Di fronte a questa impossibilità, Google ha deciso di abbandonare il paese.
Ad oggi questa è l’unica multinazionale che ha preso in considerazione e messo in pratica la possibilità di lasciare la Cina, il mercato che tutti ritengono il più profittevole. L’attuale bacino di utenti per Google.cn è pari a circa 300 milioni di persone. Una cifra ineguagliata da qualsiasi altra nazione.
