Google indicizza Facebook: significa che i profili del social network compariranno nella lista completa dei risultati forniti dal motore di ricerca, con gli aggiornamenti in tempo reale. Non tutte, almeno per ora, ma solo le pagine “celebri”: personaggi pubblici, aziende, marchi famosi, anche utenti singoli purché molto impegnati e influenti sul social network, e quindi in qualche modo noti.
I profili indicizzati con questo criterio sono circa uno su dieci, per un totale vicino ai 40 milioni di utenti del social network.
Non è escluso però che col tempo il numero di utenti inclusi possa allargarsi, visto che Facebook si afferma sempre più come il primo social network. A dimostrarlo, alcune statistiche date da Nielsen: limitandoci agli USA, la gente lo usa in media 7 ore al mese, ed è l’unico tra i primi dieci siti americani in cui questo tempo medio sia cresciuto a gennaio, del 10%. Mentre per Google il tempo medio trascorso sul sito è calato dell’11% e per Amazon del 28,4%.
Con questa mossa, peraltro già prevista accanto all’indicizzazione di Twitter e MySpace. l’azienda di Mountain View si adegua al concorrente Microsoft, il cui motore di ricerca Bing già include i risultati di Facebook.
