Nuovo accordo tra Skype Panasonic e LG: chiamate possibili dal televisore!
News, Tech — By Max on gennaio 5, 2010 at 15:07L’ultima versione di Skype per Windows permette di effettuare videochiamate in modalità HD (720p) alla risoluzione di 1280 x 720 pixel. Per sfruttare questa novità gli utenti dovranno disporre di una connessione ad Internet a banda larga, una webcam HD, un PC dotato di CPU da 1.8 GHz dual-core o superiore e Skype 4.2 Beta.
Presto però sarà possibile effettuare videochiamate in alta definizione anche sui nuovi televisori HD, grazie ad un accordo siglato tra Skype, LG e Panasonic. I prossimi modelli delle due case, saranno dotati di webcam HD (720p), microfono, processori di elaborazione video e connessione Ethernet per rendere possibili telefonate VoIP e streaming audio/video.
Le videochiamate effettuate tramite Skype, potranno sfruttare una risoluzione massima di 1280 x 720 pixel a 30 frame al secondo. Il costo delle chiamate via TV sarà identico a quello delle telefonate effettuate via PC e quindi gratuito per quelle tra utenti Skype.
Panasonic ha confermato il supporto a Skype per i nuovi TV della linea Viera; LG invece implementerà il nuovo sistema sui Plasma e su un TV LCD da 26 pollici. Sono comunque previste webcam HD in modo da poter aggiornare anche i modelli precedenti.

Salve, nel mese di Giugno 2010 ho acquistato un televisore LG LE5800 che veniva dichiarato SKYPE ready, ovvero pronto per essere collegato ad internet per utilizzare SKYPE già installato nel software del televisore. Una volta aperta la scatola ed attivato il televisore, scopro che tale servizio in realtà non e’ disponibile. Ho chiamato diverse volte il servizio assistenza LG che era a conoscenza del problema. Hanno sempre promesso che a breve sarebbe stato rilasciato un nuovo aggiornamento via internet. L’ultima volta hanno promesso entro la metà di gennaio. Ad oggi nessun aggiornamento.
A mio avviso si tratta di una truffa: un prodotto (il televisore LG) viene pubblicizzato con determinati servizi (SKYPE) ed il cliente sceglie quel prodotto in virtù dei servizi inclusi. Se tali servizi non sono inclusi, probabilmente la scelta sarebbe caduta su altri prodotti e su altre marche.
Nella mia situazione ci sono tutti coloro che hanno acquistato i televisore LG della famiglia LExxx.
